Writing Prompt: Negative Space

Lately, I’ve been really inspired by negative space art, so of course, I tried to find a way to make it into a writing prompt.

Here we go!

1. Find one of your favorite articles and print it out.

2. Choose an object and draw its outline with a black marker on the paper. This could be a heart, a guitar, the Leaning Tower of Pisa – whatever you choose, make it simple.

3. Color everything outside of the lines, leaving only the inside of your image readable.

4. Take a look at the words that are left. Underline five or six words that stand out and use them to write a scene.
